it's that time
Well, I leave for the airport in less than an hour. Considering I'm still in my PJs, snuggled under the blankets, maybe I should think about getting a move on. But it's cold and I'm nervous and wah! I'm not taking my computer for the trip, and while I can probably check my email a few times via relatives' computer, I doubt I'll be able to LJ. So, I'll be back on the 28th! (Hopefully.) Yuletide author, thanks in advance. :) Current Mood: nervousCurrent Music: "Down in New Orleans" - Princess and the Frog |

not fun times
Before a flight, I always go into a prolonged last meal mentality and indulge myself in whatever I want to eat. (And then go, "Why have I gained so much weight?") Today I made a poor life choice and got a very big meal at Shake Shack and then proceeded to die of acid reflux all day. And now I'm sitting here, preparing to consider getting ready for bed since I need to get up at the wee morning hours, hyperventilating about the plane. Also, my leg hurts. It's been an awesome day. And now to worry on other things
Yuletide is finished and uploaded! Woo! Now with that out of the way, I can devote myself to concentrating on freaking out about my flight on Tuesday. I HATE FLYING SO MUCH. I have Xanax to get me through it, but the thought of getting on an airplane is bringing tears to my eyes. And I've never been on a flight so long on my own. I do things like research the airline (JetBlue) and the kinds of jets they use and the engines to try to calm myself down. And I went with JetBlue for the TV, which will probably distract me, and yes, I have plenty of Xanax. But still, God, I hate flying. of food and fishboys
Here were my options: 1. Go out into the snow, walk a few blocks to grocery store for food. 2. Go out into the snow, walk across the street (to McDonalds) for food. 3. Stay in, eat cold cereal, a day-old Subway sandwich, sunflower seeds, or cheesecake. 4. Pay someone to bring food to me. I say it is worth the extra expense. Plus, if all goes according to plan, I'll have leftovers for breakfast tomorrow. Hurrah! Also, check out what my roommate got me for Christmas (and insisted I open early): ( Chicken of the Sea ) Current Music: "French Navy" - Camera Obscura |

go go go me
I knocked a few things off my To Do list today, and tomorrow I'll be finishing up others or deciding not to do them at all because apparently the blizzard that ate Manhattan is being projected to roll through over the weekend. I don't care as long as it's done and clear on Tuesday, when I leave. I'm already nervous enough about flying; flying into snow is too much for me to comprehend. Anyway, I went to the rheumatologist today, and he thinks it's more likely that I have fibromylagia than arthritis. Score? Okay, not actually. But I'm glad to be getting somewhere. And thanks for the holiday cards, derien and harmonyangel! Current Mood: tiredCurrent Music: "Jigsaw" - Mates of State |

why so much on my list?
Things to do before leaving on Tuesday: ( Pretty much for me, but look if you want )Also, I forgot the worst thing about getting new glasses -- breaking them in. My prescription went up a little, and thus coming home from work today I was hideously nauseated on the subway. Good thing I didn't completely lose it, or I'd have gotten the fun chance to be the person everyone hates on the train. That is, the person who gets sick and slows it down for everyone. I have heard tell of its glory, yes
Mom: Okay, have you ever heard of a place called Park Slope. Me: ...yes? Mom: Well, have you heard of a place called the Chip Shop? Any lingering hopes that I might have been switched at birth -- squashed. Whenever I need to be reminded that I'm related to my family, I just need to remind myself that our love of fried foods runs too deep to be entirely due to Nurture rather than Nature. Seriously, my mom wants to try to try the deep-fried pizza at the Chip Shop. My heart is relieved that the intensity of fried-love was diluted when passed down to my generation. Otherwise, I'd be eating deep-fried pizza and pig skin all the live long day. Current Mood: fullCurrent Music: "Eli the Barrow Boy" - the Decemberists |

yay for not-bills!
Thank you to apologiesqueen and cynicalpeach for super-cute Christmas cards, and to imamaryanne for the CD! The CD means I get to take something off my Amazon wishlist, which is something I'm obsessed with. Unsolicited Yuletide update: I'm about 750 words in. This is actually the second fic I started; the first was way too ambitious to start so late in the game and wouldn't have been finished in time. Oh well. Live and learn. I'm not getting over this movie
Um, it's entirely possible that I saw The Princess and the Frog again today. I mean, seriously, I have it bad for this movie. Like, all of it, and pretty much all of the characters, but particularly Prince Naveen. I won't go into spoiler-y detail, but Naveen is so my character type that it hurts. And he's just so charming. poisonivory and I have this idea that all the Disney princes have this club where they all hang out together and talk about having awesome wives and occasionally have their own adventures. But there's a definite schism in the club -- on one side of the room, you have Philip talking about killing a sorceress-dragon and Li Shang doing bare-chested practice combat moves, and on the other, there's Eric dancing the hornpipe and Snow White's Prince Charming applying another coat of lipstick. Face it, not all princes are created equal. But they all aspire to be like Aladdin, the coolest prince of all. I mean, he's badass. He's streetwise. He could pick all their pockets in under four seconds. He's got a magic carpet. He somehow makes a fez and Hammer pants look stylish. Aladdin's awesome. And now, since the new movie's debut, they also want to be just like Naveen. Because Naveen is almost as cool as Aladdin, only with less monkey and more sweater vest. And ( okay, okay, the tiniest of spoilers, maybe ) Current Mood: ecstaticCurrent Music: "Dig a Little Deeper" - TPatF soundtrack |

yay christmas
Thanks for the awesome Christmas cards, celeria and quirkytaverna! They made me smile. Just like this -- :D To continue the Feliz Navidadiness of the day, I decorated a Christmas stocking for Sorsha. ( See? )It's ironic that tonight's also the first night of Hanukah. Current Mood: lovedCurrent Music: music from another apartment |
